January Currently

I know January is about to end but I couldn't resist it, I had to post a January Currently. The month may be coming to an end but it is not quite over yet. I am linking up with Farley at 'Oh Boy 4th Grade for this January Currently.

Listening:
My son has been talking non stop about the Seahawks making it to the Super Bowl. I have heard so much talk about football you could call me an expert.
Loving:
I am loving the fact that I finished grading. The end of the six weeks was last week. There is something about that feeling that you get when inputting that last grade for the last student. Three more six weeks ahead yay! I can see the silver lining.
Thinking:
As the Texas State Assessments roll near I am constantly thinking about how I could improve my students scores whether it's reading or math. I hope my students do well after all the preparation and chaos I am putting them through
Wanting:
I am wanting to drown myself in a banana split mainly because my sweet tooth is kicking in and having a banana split with pecans and extra whipped cream sounds delicious at the moment.
Needing:
Well I went to one of my favorite stores TJ Maxx and I came to realize that they did not have any black flats. I ended up buying other things that I did not need instead of what I actually went for.
Yes, Maybe, I Wish:
At the beginning of every year my goal is to lose weight, hopefully I will be able to stick to it. Maybe I will win the lottery which is a pretty good maybe if you ask me. I wish I could clean my house with the snap of my fingers and not have to spend Sundays cleaning.

June Currently

There is nothing like the first days of June, why...because I am on summer vacation. Not having to wake up early, not having to worry if my daughter has everything, then realizing I forgot something at the house so yes the beginning of June is great. To share my excitement I am linking up with Farley at 'Oh Boy 4th Grade for her awesome June Currently!!
listening:
I am listening to my daughter watch her favorite cartoon as I am on the computer blog surfing and realizing that it is time for the June Currently.
loving:
I am loving the fact that I don't have to get up early tomorrow morning and head off to school. Now I can enjoy the comfort of my bed longer.
thinking:
I am thinking about all the laundry that is waiting for me in my laundry room. However, I am deeply distracted by all the 4th Grade blogs.
wanting:
I am wanting a maid...no explanation needed. I think everyone can understand this.
needing:
I am currently needing a vacation to get out of the state of Texas. This year has been like having a bad boyfriend, there was a lot of ups and downs but at the end I survived.
summer bucket list:
My summer bucket list consists of organizing, organizing, and organizing everything that is disorganized. I am also planning to put my daughter who is five years old into ballet for the first time, I can't wait! And...organizing a little more.

Snowflakes Remind Me Of...

Here's a cute winter activity to get your kiddos writing. I had my students free-write using a winter snowflake picture from Pinterest and with some classical music. They wrote for about five minutes. I asked the students to write about what snowflakes remind them of.  They then got into groups and shared their writing with each other and revised some of their sentences. I gave each student a snowflake writing page to transfer their writing onto. They glued it onto blue construction paper, (that darker the better) and drew their picture using a white crayon. Some of the students wanted to add just a bit of color, but the majority of the drawing needed to be done in white crayon.

Working in my Classroom!

So excited that school will be starting. I know it doesn't look like much but that is what I walked into last week. The kids come back to school soon, so I have been hard at work in my classroom and it is coming along wonderfully.  I can't wait to unveil the finished product on Friday!

Polka Dot Shelves

Before
After

I know I am late for Monday made it, but I could not wait to post a picture of some shelves I redid in my classroom. To make them, all I did was use some polka dot wrapping paper (that I purchased at Hobby Lobby) and cut it to fit the shelf. The paper can be secured with tape, glue or even mod podge. Once the shelves are covered I placed a clear tape shelf covering on top to protect it from damage and it is complete. Simple and cute.

A New Love

I recently bought this laminator at Sam's. I found a new love, there is nothing like laminating in the comfort of your home (and getting started on back to school stuff early). (:

Leave a comment about the stuff you are doing to get ready for back to school!
